Brock that sounds like a good idea. Does anyone else use that method? Or does anyone have other options besides spraying out side? Out side won't work for me.
Could I wear my motorcycle leather suit and protect my head and just use a regular fan?

The two words you mention, smaller and cheaper, do not go in the same sentence or even page with explosion proof anything. You and me are in the same boat. We both need an explosion proof setup. So I'm the one who'll be bidding against you on Ebay on the next good deal. No Joke, one day I let a thousand dollar system get away because the seller wouldn't answer emails as to shipping. Excuse my ignorance..... but why couldn't you drive a fan blade with a belt from a moter that was outside your spray booth? Would that eliminate the need for an explosion proof fan? |

Graham, maybe you need a good set of earplugs as well and an asbestos suit, to protect from the explosion and ensuing fire. It's been a great day! |

Brock, you are right. Some exp proof fans are mounted just as you say. It's not just the motor, but the spark of a blade, they usually use aluminum cast blades. Someone mentioned positive pressure, that is probably the best alternative I've heard. Probably won't pass firecode but it might just save your life. Old squirrel cage fans are to be had for nearly free. Old central systems have 'em. The old ones even use belts. |

Well I think I'm going to have to give up on Nitro and switch to KTM-9. 
I sprayed the back and sides of my first guitar with Nitro and was very pleased with the results, but I was just using a regular fan since I wasn't aware of just how dangerous nitro is. It's surprising that the general public is able to get nitro so easily. |

I think that if i ever spray a guitar, it'll be with KTM-9, seems far less dangerous than Nitro. Serge |
